The clinic staff was guided to map out their current process, explore the clinic patient flow, interview staff, review patient feedback, and collect data on its performance using Kure’s As-Is Map and Data Collection Tools.

  • Weekend volume and times much greater than weekdays

  • Patient requiring lab test have longer times

Using Kure, the clinic staff easily identified several root causes to address in the process to meet their goals using a Fishbone Diagram and the 5 Whys. These included:

  • Staffing to demand

  • Need for testing

Implement specific solutions to make the problem go away

The clinic staff determined, developed and implemented the best solutions using Kure’s Solution Selection Matrix which helped them visualize their options:

  • Staffing model

  • Improve signage

  • Staff assignments to treatment rooms

  • Phlebotomy training for RNs

After implementing these solutions, patient time to be seen reduced from 57 minutes to 15 minutes (74% improvement).

To ensure their process performance gain was maintained, the clinic staff used the Monitoring & Response Plan and closed the project with a Project Handoff
